Archive: faces.! Mathias Braschler - Monika Fischer

For the first time, the museum gugging presents large formatted works on identity, personality and emotion by the Swiss photography duo Mathias Braschler and Monika Fischer. Whether faces of soccer or countries (China, USA) or subjects like climate change or racism: all of their photo series show people in their customary surroundings. In their staged photographs, Mathias Braschler and Monika Fischer see the individuals and acknowledge their identity, thus making them feel portrayed in the way they really are.
The latest portrait series of the residents living and working in the House of Artists was produced in January 2013 specifically for this book and the exhibition at the museum gugging. It features the manifold characters of the Gugging Artists, whose works are exhibited in innumerable museums and galleries around the world.
